Glasshouse, Bermondsey.

Project Description

This air rights scheme of twelve live/work units overlooks the Conservation Area close to Bermondsey Street, London SE1.

The site comprises the air-rights above the Glass House, an existing four-storey residential block. The three additional floors of duplex flats in Kemp Muir Wealleans’ scheme with engineer Whitby & Bird are supported on new perimeter columns and orientated towards the Thames and Tower Bridge.

With restricted access to the site ruling out much off-site prefabrication, the design has instead exploited lightweight components that can be easily assembled on site.
